Simmons Kinfolk Newsletters
It
has been about 30 years ago when I received a "Simmons Kinfolk" newsletter from Marcia Eisenberg.
At the time I did not
have any interest in genealogy however, I did place the newsletter in a safe
place for
future reference. Then
about 1993 a couple years after my mother past away I became interested in the
family genealogy. I dusted off the
newsletter and tried to contact Marcia Eisenberg at the return address
on the
newsletter. As luck would have it the
letter was returned as undeliverable. I lost interest and
became
entrenched in my job and did not have time for
hobbies.
Finally, the genealogy bug bit me about February 2005 and I could not
set the newsletter aside again!
Using this newsletter as the catalyst to start
my own Simmons Family Genealogy, I began assembling
family artifacts from
my files and also challenged my siblings to join in and help. Since then I
have
assembled mounds of Simmons
material from my siblings and other relatives. Using this material I have
setup this web site to share the material and also to expand this material by the generous contributions
of the web site
visitors.
I
have acquired all issues that Marcia and her sister Roma
have published between 1975 and 1978.
Linked below are all issues
that Marcia and Roma published. The family tree of William Simmons and
Betsey Ives has been updated
with information obtained from these Newsletters. Please note that
there is
still much information that I
need to organize and present from these newsletters. However, I
have captured
most of the family
information and blended this information into my Simmons Genealogy
database which is
the source of the
family tree presented here.
Personal Note
from Wayne T. Simmons:
When
I began my search for the Simmons ancestors I knew that it would
take some effort to perform the necessary
research.
However, after actually performing some research and then acquiring
the Simmons Kinfolk Newsletters,
it became
very apparent that the search for the Simmons ancestors would take a
dedicated effort to make any significant
progress.
It is difficult to put into words the gratitude that I feel for the
hard work, time, expense and dedication that
Marcia
Eisenberg and Roma Nowak had to expend to be able to publish these
newsletters. Now that I have read these
newsletters and expended some of my own hard work, time, and
expense, I know that Dedication must come next if I am
to ever
come close to contributing to the Simmons Genealogy that Marcia and
Roma have started!
My
most sincere and heart felt thanks goes out to Marcia and Roma for instilling
the Genealogy Spirit into me!
It is my deepest desire that this
Spirit never leaves me!
