LASALLE  (Monroe Co., Michigan)


Twice within one year the angel of death entered the home of A. C. Reynolds and bore a loved one home. Mrs. Sylvia Clark who resided with her daughter Mrs. C. A. Reynolds since the death of her son not quite a year ago was stricken with rheumatism last August and never recovered. All that loving hands could do was done but, to no avail as she died from grief over the loss of her son as much as from sickness. Grandma Clark departed this life on March the 18th, Rev. Burns from Monroe, officiated. The church was crowded to the entrance with neighbors and friends who wished to pay a lasting and loving tribute to an old neighbor..........(need to find rest of obit)

Died, at LaSalle on Friday, Aug. 28th, Mrs. Mary Clark, relict of the late William S. Clark, aged 89 years and six months. Deceased was born in New Hampshire, Feb. 20, 1807, and married in New York state in 1827. She came to this county in May 1834, and has always lived on the farm on which she died. She was the mother of ten children, eight of whom are still living. She also had forty-two grandchildren and fifty-one great grandchildren. The funeral took place from the LaSalle United Brethren Church, last Sunday, rev. Mr. Phillips preaching the funeral sermon. The remains were interred in the LaSalle cemetery. The funeral procession was the largest ever seen in the part of the county, which was a manifestation of the high esteem in which she was held by the community at large who sincerely mourn the loss of such a kind and amiable neighbor. The living children are John, Robert, Calvin C., William, James, and Mrs. Henry (Sarah Jane) Kreps of LaSalle, Mrs. Wm. (Almyra) Charter of Ida, Mrs. Ferdinand (Mary Louise)Reinhart of Summerfield.

Gracie A. Simmons Nov. 20, 2004-April 20, 2006


CARLETON - Gracie A. Simmons, 1, of Carleton died at 10:31 a.m. Thursday at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe, where services will be held at noon Monday. The Rev. Stephen Rooney, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, Monroe, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born Nov. 20, 2004, in Wyandotte, she was the daughter of Joseph A. Simmons and Holly R. Preson.
Surviving are her father of Monroe; her mother of Carleton; grandparents, Jeffrey Preston of Monroe, Lori (Ronald) Heiden of Adrian and Joseph (Patricia) Simmons of Petersburg, and great-grandparents, Richard (Barbara) Preston of Monroe and Gordon (Wilma) Chesney of LaSalle.
